Philips OnSite package vs device alone: the $7.20 answer

The Philips OnSite Value Package costs $1,581.80 at AED Leader and Response Ready; the bare M5066A costs $1,589. The package is $7.20 under the device alone and adds a carry case, wall cabinet, first responder kit, 3-way sign, poster, inspection card and window decal (30 September 2026). Buy the device alone only if you already own a cabinet and case.

Recertified Philips HeartStart OnSite: $875 at AED Leader, $706.80 under this package. It carries a 3-year warranty. Verified 25 September 2026.

Philips OnSite AED package for a small business: which one and why

For a small business with one site and no trained responder, the Philips OnSite Value Package at $1,581.80 (AED Leader, 19 September 2026) is the right buy: the OnSite is over-the-counter, coaches in plain speech, and the package adds the cabinet, sign, poster and responder kit an inspector expects. Choose the standard case (adds $80) if it travels; choose the FRx package instead only for a gym, pool or vehicle.

Quick answer

A Philips HeartStart OnSite value package costs $1,581.80 to $1,801.80, verified 30 September 2026 at AED Leader and Response Ready, against $1,589.00 to $1,819.00 for the bare device, so the package costs $7.20 LESS than the device alone. The OnSite is one of only two AED families approved for over the counter sale in the United States in its adult configuration, so no prescription is required. Consumables cost about $894 over ten years, one of the higher running costs we track (the Powerheart G5 is higher at about $1,342).

4Case tiers that change the price

The same OnSite for $875

Recertified units are the same model under the same FDA premarket approval, restored and tested before resale. The device that stops a cardiac arrest does not care what you paid for it.

Philips HeartStart OnSite (Recertified)Price verified 30 September 2026 at AED Leader and Response Ready
New $1,589$875You keep $714, 45% off
  • Same device, same approval. A recertified OnSite carries the same FDA premarket approval as the new unit. It is not a clone and not a downgrade.
  • Minimum three year warranty, guaranteed. Most resellers give one year or less on a refurbished AED.
  • Free shipping on orders above $199 in the contiguous United States.
  • $714 back in your budget covers roughly 7 sets of replacement pads, which is the part that actually expires.

The honest risk. A recertified AED is a used device. That is why the three year warranty matters more than the price. If the warranty were one year we would not recommend it.

The short answer. A Philips HeartStart OnSite value package costs between $1,499.00 and $1,809.37 across the nine sellers we track, read on 1 October 2026 (AEDs Today and Cardiac Life could not be read and keep their 19 September 2026 price). The device inside every one of them is the same M5066A that sells alone for $1,589 to $1,819. At AED Leader and Response Ready the slim-case package is $1,581.80, which is $7.20 under the bare device, and the three case upgrades add $80 to $220. Elsewhere you pay up to about $220 over the device for a case, a responder kit, signage and a cabinet, which is fair value if you would buy those items anyway and dead money if you would not.

Green row is the configuration we would buy: the lowest price that includes a carry-case choice and the full contents list. Prices read on each seller's live page on 1 October 2026 (AEDs Today and Cardiac Life could not be read and keep their 19 September 2026 price) and from the public product data of AED Leader and Response Ready on 19 September 2026. AED Brands blocked our read on 19 September 2026, so its $1,769 and $1,869 packages are not in this price table and its column in the contents table below is from our 16 September read. Package contents differ between sellers, so compare the included list below before comparing the number.

The package against the bare device

The OnSite device on its own is $1,589 to $1,819 at AED Leader, verified on our OnSite review. At AED Leader and Response Ready the slim-case package is $1,581.80, which is $7.20 under the bare device. The case upgrades take it to $1,661.80, $1,731.80 and $1,801.80, so the most you pay over the $1,589 device for the full package is about $213, and that top tier is the waterproof Pelican case upgrade priced at $220.

At $7.20 under the device the package wins outright. A wall cabinet alone typically runs $149 to $499, so the bundled cabinet and signage are effectively free. At other sellers the price runs from $90 under the $1,589 device (HeartSmart at $1,499) to about $220 over it (Cardiac Life at $1,809.37), and above $100 over you should check the included list line by line, because the gap is large enough to buy the items you actually want and skip the ones you do not.

What is included in the Philips HeartStart OnSite Value Package

The package is $7.20 under the bare device. Buy it at AED Leader or Response Ready.

Which package for which buyer (small business, school, gym, site)

Setting Configuration to buy Why
Small office, under 50 staff Slim case, standard bracket Indoor, low handling. The slim case is enough and it is the cheapest tier
School or community centre Standard case plus signage Public access placement needs visible signage, and many states require AEDs in schools
Gym or fitness studio Standard case plus spare adult pads Exertion raises the chance the AED is used, so a spare adult cartridge on site avoids a two-week gap after a rescue
Construction or outdoor site Waterproof Pelican case The OnSite is IP21 rated, so the case is doing the environmental protection, not the device
Anywhere children are present Add the Infant/Child cartridge M5072A The OnSite needs a separate pediatric cartridge. It is prescription only, unlike the adult configuration

The cost nobody puts in the package price

A package is a purchase. An AED is a programme. Over ten years the OnSite consumes roughly $894 in pads and batteries: adult pads M5071A at $99 every two years, and the M5070A battery at $249 every four years. That is the number to budget, not the sticker.

Put differently: the ten year running cost is more than half the price of the package again. Our ten year AED cost breakdown compares this against every other model we track, and the OnSite is one of the more expensive to feed.

Our verdict

At AED Leader and Response Ready the slim-case package is $7.20 under the bare device, so the package is the default buy. Elsewhere, buy the package if the premium over the bare device is under about $100; at that level the cabinet and signage alone justify it. Above roughly $200, price the components individually first, because a wall cabinet and a responder kit bought separately will usually land cheaper than the tier upgrade.

If budget is the constraint, the honest alternative is not a cheaper package. It is a recertified OnSite at $875, which is 45 per cent below the new device and comes with a three year warranty. You then buy the cabinet and kit separately and still finish well under every package on this page.

More questions buyers ask about the Philips OnSite value package

Answered 24 September 2026. Prices verified from the AED Leader product feed the same day.

Is the OnSite value package cheaper than the AED on its own?

Today it is. AED Leader lists the OnSite value package from $1,581.80 and the bare OnSite from $1,589.00, a $7.20 difference in the package's favour on the base carry case, and the package adds a storage cabinet. Check both prices on the day you buy, because the listing describes the package as normally costing a few dollars more.

What will the OnSite cost to keep for ten years?

$894.00 in consumables after the first set. M5071A pads at $99.00 every two years is four sets, $396.00. The M5070A battery at $249.00 every four years is two, $498.00. Our 10-year AED cost page compares the same sum across brands.

Is there a cheaper way to get an OnSite?

Recertified, at $875.00 with a three-year warranty and new pads and battery. It is AED Leader's top-selling product of 2026 by revenue. Details on the recertified OnSite page.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Philips HeartStart OnSite value package?

Between $1,499.00 and $1,809.37 across the nine sellers we track, read on 1 October 2026 (AEDs Today and Cardiac Life could not be read and keep their 19 September 2026 price). HeartSmart is lowest at $1,499.00 for its OnSite Business AED Kit; AED.US is $1,579.00 with an alarmed cabinet and no case choice; AED Leader and Response Ready are $1,581.80 to $1,801.80 across four case tiers; Cardiac Life is highest at $1,809.37.

Is the value package cheaper than buying the AED separately?

At AED Leader and Response Ready, yes: the slim-case package is $1,581.80 against $1,589 for the bare OnSite, so the cabinet, kit and signage come with a $7.20 saving. At other sellers the price runs from $90 under the device to about $220 over it. Since a wall cabinet alone costs $149 to $499, any premium under $100 pays for itself; above that, price the components separately.

What comes in a Philips OnSite value package?

Every seller includes the M5066A device, an adult SMART pads cartridge, the four year battery, a carry case, a wall bracket or cabinet, a responder kit and wall signage. Spare adult pads and the Infant/Child cartridge are almost always extra.

Do I need the Infant/Child cartridge?

Only if children may be present. The OnSite uses a separate M5072A cartridge for pediatric use, and unlike the adult configuration it is prescription only. The American Heart Association permits adult pads on a child when pediatric pads are unavailable.

What does an OnSite cost to run after the purchase?

Roughly $894 over ten years. Adult pads M5071A are $99 and last two years. The M5070A battery is $249 and lasts four years. That running cost is more than half the package price again, and it is the number most buyers forget.

Is a recertified OnSite a better buy than a new package?

For a budget-led purchase, yes. A recertified OnSite is $875 with a three year warranty, which is 45 per cent below the new device. Buy the cabinet and responder kit separately and the total still lands below every new package listed on this page.

Prices verified through the public product APIs of AED Leader and Response Ready on 30 September 2026 and from each competing seller’s own published page on 1 October 2026 (AEDs Today and Cardiac Life could not be read and keep their 19 September 2026 price).
