Description
What the CPR and AED training covers
This is a hands-on class, not a video course. In about three hours the instructor walks the group through CPR for adults, children and infants, how to help someone who is choking, how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and how to use a barrier device such as a pocket mask. The listing and the CPR1 page both describe the same curriculum. CPR1 also lists the recovery position as part of the course.
Who it is for
The course is aimed at businesses that need to meet OSHA and ANSI workplace safety requirements, plus schools, healthcare facilities and individuals who want a recognised card. Groups are booked in five sizes: up to 10, 12, 15, 20 or 25 people. Instructors travel to your workplace, school or facility anywhere in the United States, so nobody has to leave the office.
What you get after the class
Each participant who completes the course receives a two-year CPR and AED certification card. CPR1 also list a CPR and AED quick reference guide and a CPR keychain pocket mask for every participant. The ABR FAQ states that CPR1 is an authorised training provider for the American Heart Association, American Red Cross and the Health and Safety Institute (HSI), and that the certification agency depends on course format and availability. Confirm which card your group will receive when you book.
Who teaches it
CPR1 instructors are certified and, according to the ABR and CPR1 pages, many come from fire, EMS and healthcare backgrounds. The sessions are described as hands-on and high energy, with time on the manikins rather than slides.
