- Follow the diagram on each pad when placing the pads; press firmly onto bare skin.
- Move quickly but confidently, there is no need to rush.
Once both pads are attached to the victim’s chest, remove your hands, staying completely clear of the patient. Press the flashing red “shock” button if audio instructions indicate shock. The rescuer will be instructed precisely when to push the red shock button with the words:
“Press the flashing shock button.”
- You hear: “shock delivered; it is safe to touch the patient; begin CPR”. Begin CPR again, adjusting your compressions to the metronome beat provided.
- Guided CPR will continue for 2 minutes, then the machine will check again for any needed shock. Follow instructions carefully for cessation of CPR, and shock or no-shock required prompt.
